E'tide update and Spring Break

I am currently unable to post pictures, so just a regular ol' post will have to do! But I promise (mostly to my family because the keep asking) that new pictures of Eventide will be up soon! And I have some pretty cute ones! Eventide is just getting bigger and bigger! She crawls like a pro and she can stand up on her own with out any help. She just hasn't taken that first step yet. :)Her hair is getting a bit longer, or at least, that's what people tell me... I'm frequently surprised to look at old pictures and see how much she has grown in the last few months!
Eventide has learned a couple new sounds: The "L" sound and the "c/k" sound. It has made her baby talk infinitely more adorable (which I did not know was possible!). We love to hear her chat away in that mysterious language of hers! Also, she is SO determined. Once she sets her mind to what she wants to do, she will not quit (like crawling to and eating the dog food for example). She loves exploring and has just discovered the kitchen cabinets and that she can in fact open them. Last week, Mitchell found her sitting under the kitchen table with a starburst (still in its wrapper) in her mouth. She had gone to the kitchen, opened up the cupboard, took the lid off the candy container, grabbed a starburst, put it in her mouth, and went to the kitchen table to eat in peace. When Mitchell found her, she was just sitting there and smiling and pretty much being a cutie.
Also, she LOVES being outside. It's pretty much her favorite thing ever.

So! We had a fun and busy spring break! Things of note:
*We got a new fondue pot (with a double boiler)! We also have a really old fondue pot that was my grandmother's (it was like from the 70's). So we looked up some delicious fondue recipes from Melting Pot and made a 3-course fondue dinner. Yum! Mitchell figured out that with the ingredients we used for the meal, which would have fed 4 people, only cost about 20 dollars! sweet! It was fun to prepare the meal and work together to make it work (Eventide was taking a nap...or it probably wouldn't have worked so well).
*Worked on our garden! Well, mostly Mitchell did. We don't have much room, but we are definitely utilizing what room we have. We are growing peas, watermelon, strawberries, onions (sweet and green), corn, tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, and various flowers. We are pretty excited!
*Mitchell's sister and her three sons came over for dinner. We watched The Last Mimzy and had pizza, pie, and ice cream.
*We went to dinner at our friends, The Jorgensons, on Thursday. They have a small farm with goats, a llama, turkeys, roosters, and a bunch of different kinds of chickens. I had never seen a male turkey like they have. He was HUGE! Because we were out there exploring, he was fluffing up his feathers and showing off. They have some female turkeys too, so at one point, the male turkey started flapping his feathers and stomping his feet doing a little mating dance that the Jorgensons called the "Baby Dance" as in "Let's make babies!" Haha, it was pretty funny. Anyway! We roasted hotdogs outside over a fire and had good conversation. fun times!

*Mitchell's brother was moving and another one of his brothers and family came up here from Utah, so we went there and helped out. Well...Mitchell helped out with the moving, I watched Eventide and played with all my wonderful and amazing nieces and nephews. Mitchell's mom just got Wii fit plus, which I tried out and I LOVE it! So, I'm hoping to get it for my birthday! yay!

Soooo, I guess that's it! spring break just flew by and school is starting on Monday. We've enjoyed some really great weather. Mitchell is really excited to start teaching his Music Psychology class (which is filled up!). I've had the opportunity to hear about a lot of the lessons he is going to teach and I wish that I could be in his class! We are soon to be busy busy busy! Eventide on the run!

Sit-ups and Pull-ups

Eventide is learning how to pull herself to stand. We've only caught it a couple of times, but it's only a matter of time before it becomes a regular thing!







Since Eventide has figured out how to sit up really good, she's made a habit of doing it when we put her to bed. A couple nights ago I went in to check on Eventide before going to bed and this is what we found:
Sometime between putting her to bed and checking on her, she had sat up, then flopped down and fell asleep...with her cute little butt in the air.

Christmas in Las Vegas/Henderson

So this is REALLY late, but I still want to post some pictures from Christmas with my family in Las Vegas. :)

It's weird to see how much Eventide has changed from then until now! For some reasons, we don't have very many pictures from our trip to Vegas on our own camera. We must have taken most of the pictures with my Mom's camera. Anyhow, hope you have a good night!

Christmas in Spokane

Christmas holidays, we spent a couple days before and the Christmas morning with my sister-in-law Jessica'a (Mitchell's sister) family. We spent the time playing games, doing puzzles, relaxing and having a good time. :) On Christmas Eve, we went to Mitchell's parent's family where several of Mitchell's siblings and their families were and we opened some presents and sang Christmas songs, which was so fun! We started with the youngest person in the family and they got to choose a Christmas song, which we all sang together, then from youngest to oldest, every single person in the family got to choose a song which we all sang together. We originally did it to pass the time, waiting for every one to be ready, but once we got going, we stuck to it. It's something that I would love to do on all my future Christmas Eves. :)On Christmas, afternoon, we went to Mitchell's parents again and had Christmas lunch/dinner and then headed to the airport to fly to Las Vegas to visit with my family.

I made the graham cracker structure at my friend's house, but once I got the house together, I was sick of it and didn't decorate, so Mitchell did. He even made a little car and little wreaths! :)

On Christmas Eve, we put together this 3D puzzle of Notre Dame. We wanted to take a picture with it before we took it apart. I think Eventide makes this picture cute.

Thanksgiving

For Thanksgiving, we went to Seattle and stayed at Mitchell's brother's (Justin) family's home. His brother Forest (and his family) and his parents were there to. It was really fun and relaxing and great to see Justin, his wife Nina, and their 7 kids (one of them just a couple weeks old) and to play with all my nieces and nephews! Mitchell brined the turkey and it was SO delicious. He followed Alton Brown's recipe and he did an EXCELLENT job. Overall, Thanksgiving was fun and we had a good time over all.

On the Saturday after Thanksgiving (still in Seattle) we went this State Park where that had this fun little beach. We didn't go swimming (too cold for that!), but it was fun to play around anyway and skip rocks. And there was a really pretty sunset.

Update x 100

Obviously, it has been a REALLY long time since I last blogged. So here you go, our life updates:

Eventide:
*Can sit up on her own.
*Can say Mama and Dada. At first she just Mama when she was upset, and she would do it when she wanted both mine or Mitchell's attention, but not Mama has been more focused to me. :) Dada is a new development.
*More baby babble! I love hearing her talk!
*She is almost crawling. Almost! She kind of just rolls and flops around to get when she wants to go. It's pretty cute, but I can see how frustrated she is sometimes when she can't get around more effectively.
*She puts EVERYTHING in her mouth.
*Her two bottom teeth came in!
*She has figured out how to get from laying down to sitting up on her own.
*She turned 8 months on January 19th.
*She is so social and fun and smart. We love our little girl!

This is one of the pictures that was taken when we got family pictures done with my family in Las Vegas. One of the reasons I love this picture so much is because you can see really well that she has two different eye colors. You can even see the little blue spot in her brown eye. :)

In this picture you can see her little teeth and that she is almost crawling! Unfortunately she has demon eyes...ha. I can never seem to take pictures of her face with out red eyes.


Mitchell:

*Switched from the Clinical Psychology graduate program to the Experimental Psychology graduate program.
*He is working on his thesis on frisson ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frisson ). He is researching the correlation between music and frisson.
*He will graduate in the spring. Yay!
*We have been looking at different schools/locations that Mitchell is considering applying to for his doctorates. It's fun and exciting to think about all our future adventures!



Courtney:

*I will graduate next fall! :)
*Mitchell has convinced me a few times to play my violin at church, twice with the choir and once in a piano/violin duet with Mitchell. This is quite a feat, as I wouldn't even play in front of my family when I was in high school.
* I am LOVING motherhood.

I don;t have any great pictures of Mitch and I to put on here...mostly we just focus on Eventide because, let's face it, she's way cuter than us. In any case, hopefully I can get on top of this blogging business. Until next time!
