The coolest nephews around

So, when I was pregnant with Eventide, Mitchell went to a conference in Portland. As it was pretty close to my due date, I stayed at his sister Jessica's home for a few days just in case I went in to labor. If you don't know Jessica's family, you sure are missing out! While this post is actually about her awesome kids, I have to mention that Jessica is just as awesome and wonderful. So, anyway, while I was staying with Jessica's family, I spent a lot of time with her two youngest sons, Salem and Forest. They always have these totally priceless and often hilarious and insightful comments, and so I started writing down things that they were saying so I could remember. I just recently rediscovered the little paper where I wrote down all that stuff. I loved it so much, I thought I would share it with you guys (p.s. at this time, Forest's favorite things were Indiana Jones and The Haunted Mansion-He had seen Indiana, but not The Haunted Mansion).

-"When I'm 18, I want to stay be a kid and I'm going to watch The Haunted Mansion. I'm going to let you buy it for me."-Forest

-"Do you know what happens when you fall in to a volcano? You burn and die."-Forest

-Salem: "Ladies first!
Forest: "Why? Because Courtney's a lady?"
Salem: "mhm!"

-"Everything about life is about Jesus and the gospel. Bad guys don't do Jesus things. They do Satan things and Satan things are bad."-Salem

-Forest or Salem (cant remember): "What #s make 13 when you put them together?"
Me: "1 and 3"
Forest or Salem: "What numbers make 6?"

-Forests sang about The Haunted Mansion to the Indiana Jones tune.

-Referring to the Haunted Mansion-"Maybe we can watch it when we are both 18 and we can have a big bowl of popcorn and our own milkshakes and Courtney, do you know what kind of milkshakes they will be? Strawberry."-Forest

Can these boys BE anymore awesome? I submit that they can not! :)

New shoes!

Last week on Thursday I went to the Just Between Friends sale and got some pretty sweet stuff for Eventide! I got her a bunch of 18 month clothing, some shoes, a little Elmo chair and a Kipper dvd (a cartoon). One of the pairs of shoes I got her were these adorable little Mary Janes (for only 2 dollars!). I didn't expect her to care or notice, but when we put them on her when we got home and sat her in her little chair, she thought the shoes were so cool!

Also, a few nights ago, We were watching TV and Eventide was cuddling with me on the floor (which she only ever does when she is tired) and she decided she didn't want to do that anymore. So she got up crawled in front of me and then laid her head down on my leg and promptly fell asleep.

Easter package

My parents sent Eventide an Easter package. We really wanted to open it, so we cheated and opened it last night when we got home from the Easter egg hunt and Mitchell's parent's home. Eventide loved it! Thanks Nana and Papa!

Easter Egg Hunt!

Yesterday, on Friday, Mitchell and I put together an Easter egg hunt at Mitchell's parent's house for Eventide and 10 of her cousins! It was a lot of fun! We found these little bunny rabbit baskets for 50 cents each at the dollar store and we bought one for all the kids. The kids had fun and they were great in helping each other to fill up their baskets. :) Due to inclement weather (it was snowing yesterday!) we had to move the hunt indoors, but the kids didn't care.

Eventide found some eggs!

Elaine who just found an egg in a shoe (with Hannah in the background):

There was one special easter egg that we had set out. It was one of those little towels that are cramped into a shape and you add water to get the towel to expand. Anyway, this one happened to be in the shape of an egg. Buddy found it and when he found out what it was, he was pretty excited...as you can tell.

Some of the kids discovering what's in the plastic eggs. Also, something of note-Next to Eventide is Elaine and she is continually giving E'tide kisses and hugs and talking to he (which is what she is doing in the picture). Eventide's cousins are so great and loving towards her. I love it!

Eventide smiling up at her Aunt Jessica (Mitchell's sister).

Eventide can bend down and pick something up and stand back up with out falling! Not all the time, but she is beginning to do it more frequently. :)

Helping with the dishes!

Eventide likes playing in the kitchen and so if I go in there, Eventide is sure to follow, especially when I'm doing the dishes. She likes to put various magnets from the fridge and whatever toys are around her in to the silverware holder in the dishwasher. I could only hope that she is that enthusiastic about cleaning the dishes when she is older.

Strawberry

I caught some pictures with my phone of Eventide eating a strawberry that was bigger than her hand.

Inspecting the strawberry:

Yum!

E'tide update and Spring Break

I am currently unable to post pictures, so just a regular ol' post will have to do! But I promise (mostly to my family because the keep asking) that new pictures of Eventide will be up soon! And I have some pretty cute ones! Eventide is just getting bigger and bigger! She crawls like a pro and she can stand up on her own with out any help. She just hasn't taken that first step yet. :)Her hair is getting a bit longer, or at least, that's what people tell me... I'm frequently surprised to look at old pictures and see how much she has grown in the last few months!
Eventide has learned a couple new sounds: The "L" sound and the "c/k" sound. It has made her baby talk infinitely more adorable (which I did not know was possible!). We love to hear her chat away in that mysterious language of hers! Also, she is SO determined. Once she sets her mind to what she wants to do, she will not quit (like crawling to and eating the dog food for example). She loves exploring and has just discovered the kitchen cabinets and that she can in fact open them. Last week, Mitchell found her sitting under the kitchen table with a starburst (still in its wrapper) in her mouth. She had gone to the kitchen, opened up the cupboard, took the lid off the candy container, grabbed a starburst, put it in her mouth, and went to the kitchen table to eat in peace. When Mitchell found her, she was just sitting there and smiling and pretty much being a cutie.
Also, she LOVES being outside. It's pretty much her favorite thing ever.

So! We had a fun and busy spring break! Things of note:
*We got a new fondue pot (with a double boiler)! We also have a really old fondue pot that was my grandmother's (it was like from the 70's). So we looked up some delicious fondue recipes from Melting Pot and made a 3-course fondue dinner. Yum! Mitchell figured out that with the ingredients we used for the meal, which would have fed 4 people, only cost about 20 dollars! sweet! It was fun to prepare the meal and work together to make it work (Eventide was taking a nap...or it probably wouldn't have worked so well).
*Worked on our garden! Well, mostly Mitchell did. We don't have much room, but we are definitely utilizing what room we have. We are growing peas, watermelon, strawberries, onions (sweet and green), corn, tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, and various flowers. We are pretty excited!
*Mitchell's sister and her three sons came over for dinner. We watched The Last Mimzy and had pizza, pie, and ice cream.
*We went to dinner at our friends, The Jorgensons, on Thursday. They have a small farm with goats, a llama, turkeys, roosters, and a bunch of different kinds of chickens. I had never seen a male turkey like they have. He was HUGE! Because we were out there exploring, he was fluffing up his feathers and showing off. They have some female turkeys too, so at one point, the male turkey started flapping his feathers and stomping his feet doing a little mating dance that the Jorgensons called the "Baby Dance" as in "Let's make babies!" Haha, it was pretty funny. Anyway! We roasted hotdogs outside over a fire and had good conversation. fun times!
This is a picture of what the Jorgenson's turkey looked like:

*Mitchell's brother was moving and another one of his brothers and family came up here from Utah, so we went there and helped out. Well...Mitchell helped out with the moving, I watched Eventide and played with all my wonderful and amazing nieces and nephews. Mitchell's mom just got Wii fit plus, which I tried out and I LOVE it! So, I'm hoping to get it for my birthday! yay!

Soooo, I guess that's it! spring break just flew by and school is starting on Monday. We've enjoyed some really great weather. Mitchell is really excited to start teaching his Music Psychology class (which is filled up!). I've had the opportunity to hear about a lot of the lessons he is going to teach and I wish that I could be in his class! We are soon to be busy busy busy! Sooo, with all that said, we hope you all have a fantastic week!
