Jessica's visit

So..I hate writing. I have always hated writing. In my journal, a paper for a class...a blog. Which explains why I'm such a sucky blog writer! S to catch up, I'm going to make these next posts short and sweet, otherwise, I won't ever catch up!

My sister Jessica flew up to Cheney for about a week to help out right after Memory was born and it was WONDERFUL! The weather was pretty crappy so we didn't do much. We had lunch with Mitch at his work a couple of times and spent the rest of the time lazying around the house (well..I lazied, Jessica cleaned my house for me, which was awesome), playing with Eventide, and watched a lot of movies on Instant Netflix on Wii. I think we spent more time trying to find a good movie on Netflix than actually watching a movie...For some reason Jess kept finding the cheesiest movies and she had to watch it to very end, haha. We had a lot of fun! I don't have very many pictures due to many reasons, so I'll post what I have. But in any case, THANK YOU JESS, you are truly the BEST SECOND BROTHER EVER!

Memory Cameron Colver

Memory's story:

I started having contractions at about 5:30 AM on Friday, April 1. They weren't painful but they were a lot more intense then the Braxton-Hicks (sp?) contractions that I had been experiencing off and on for weeks. Both Mitchell and I had both been awake since 4, and neither of us knew the other was awake and so when my contractions started up, I kept it to myself thinking that I would let Mitchell sleep in a little since they were 10 minutes apart. When I realized Mitch was awake, I told him what was going on and excitedly waited for each contraction to start up every 10 minutes! I got up at about 6 to start tidying up the house and when I did, my contractions started coming more irregular, anywhere from 5 minutes to 20 minutes! So Mitchell got ready for work, and I would call him when they got more regular. He left and I walked around the house a lot drinking a ton of water to rule out false labor. Around 11:00, my contractions started to become more regular, about 5-7 minutes apart, and were gradually getting more intense and painful. I picked up my phone to call Mitchell right when he walked in the door. :) I told him that my contractions were regular and called the doctor (after telling him all about the squirrels Eventide and I saw in the backyard...he gave me a weird look and said 'why aren't you calling the doctor??) and my doctor told me to go on ahead to the hospital! We packed everything up and took off to Sacred Heart Hospital. Mitchell's sister met us there to get Eventide and we got checked in!

When we got to the hospital , I was already dilated to a 4 (woohoo!). When we were set up in the labor & delivery room, the nurse tried and failed twice to give me an IV. She actually was telling me what wonderful veins I have (ha) but then when she stuc k the needle in, my veins would roll, and she would have to try again. The anesthesiologist was nearby, and so he came in and gave it a try (and succeeded!).

The nurse gave me a drug to dull the pain of my contractions, and I got all loopy. As soon as the drug kicked in, my vision got all weird and it looked like everything was scrolling down (does that make sense?). All I could tell Mitchell was "It's weird..." "Like how weird?" "I donno...so weird.." I got all mushy and was telling him how much I loved him and how wonderful he is and what a good father he is (which is true). Mitch thought it was pretty funny. I honestly don't remember what time it was when I got my epidural, but I can tell you that I was indeed grateful for it. I have yet to feel the worst of the contractions, as with both babies, I got an epidural before my water broke, and to tell you the truth, I have no interest in finding out... The nurse didn't check me the second time until after I had gotten my epidural, and when she did, I was a 6 and my water broke as she was checking me. About an hour later, I was feeling a LOT of pressure and called for a nurse to come check me again and I was about an 8. About 10 minutes later I called for a nurse again because I felt like I HAD to push and when she check me I was at a 10! She called the doctor and about 20-30 minutes later I was pushing!

The experience was totally different then with Eventide. The epidural did not work so completely as it did with Eventide. I could still feel a little, which I actually preferred. I was able to feel that urge to push and I liked having a better sense of what was going on. It was a lot harder and more painful, but all the more worth it. I pushed for about 30 minutes and then she was born at 4:25 PM! When Memory was born, it was one of the most beautiful and wonderful experiences of my life (right along with Eventide's birth). I got to hold her right away and I could not stop crying! It was so hard to believe that she was finally here! So hard to believe that Mitchell and I could make such a gorgeous, beautiful little person!

Out little Memory cried for the first half hour or so and was content for the rest of our stay. She is such a little cuddle bug and is pretty much happy as log as she is well-fed and well-cuddled. :)We just love her and can not get enough of her!

As for Eventide, she is pretty pleased with Memory. She wasn't that interested when she came to visit us at the hospital but when we picked her up from Mitchell's parents, she saw the baby and got very excited. She smiled real big and said "baby!"

And oh yes, Memory was 9lbs, 22 inches long, and her head was 14 cm. It's still hard to believe that I had such a big baby in my tummy!

New words

In the past couple of weeks, Eventide has grown up a lot! Not physically (though she might have), but intellectually. She seems to understand a lot more. We watched Tangled last night, and I've never heard her laugh so much when watching a movie (I can recall maybe 2 or 3 times total that she's laughed at a movie). She was cracking up! she especially loved the chameleon and when people got hit with pans...haha. She laughed and smiled at the funny stuff and would look concerned and say "uh-oh" when something bad was happening. In any case, she's learned a lot of new words as well. She's started repeating words after we say them to her and they are gradually becoming part of her regular vocabulary. Some of the one's she has learned:
*Barbie ("bobbie")
*Come on (Gom-on)
*Here you go
*baby (though she doesn't quite get that there will be one in our home soon...)
*Courtney (I swear the other day she told me "thanks, Courtney.")
*Nom Nom! (we did not teach her that!)
*fish
*doggie ("goggie")
*Moo!
*push
*She understands hug, kiss, and treat
*mommy (a name in which she calls both Mitch and I)
*poop ("puh"-she says this while grabbing her diaper after she has peed or pooped)

Among many other words she says and understands, there's a whole bunch of words she says a lot that we don't understand. I LOVE hearing her chat away or read a book. She is just wonderful!

(Also, as a side note, she is AWESOME at going to bed at her bedtime and going down for a nap and is more often than not, quite willing to go to bed! Just in time for the baby! :D )

I just can not get enough of our little Eventide!

Her hair is in her face A LOT and Mitchell's dad often jokingly threatens to cut her hair in the front. Eventide is so determined to pull out any clips, bows, or pony-tails that I put in her hair. *shrug*

Little baker

I got a Bosch mixer!!! As soon as I could, I went to Walmart to get the ingredients to make my mom's/Grampa's scones and homemade bread. We scones with honey-butter for dinner and they were just delicious! I used the remaining dough to make rolls and 2 loaves of bread. Unfortunately, I had the oven set at the wrong temperature and overcooked the rolls, but the bread turned out good (though not nearly as good as my mom's!). Practice makes perfect though, right? I'll get it down eventually! I haven't made anything else yet with the Bosch mixer, but I have a lot of plans! :) Ill just have to wait a bit till after Memory is born!
Anyway, Eventide likes to "help" out when I'm mixing and baking. she especially loves spooning flour in to whatever I'm making. When she saw me adding ingredients to the mixing bowl, she immediately grabbed a measuring spoon out one of our drawers and dragged a chair over to me. I love it!

Of her own accord, she grabbed a bottle from the spice rack and pretended to shake some into her flour bowl. :)

Making a mess is part of the fun!

9 Months

In the pictures, I don't look much bigger than I did at about 7 months...but trust me when I say that I am definitely bigger! the only pants that I can comfortable fit in are me maternity jeans and my pajama pants. I wear pajamas a lot! Additionally, pretty much every shirt I own exposes my belly, ha. So I've gotten creative with some old tube tops that I use as belly bands. In any case, today is Memory's due date and my induction date is on Sunday, April 3rd at 7:30! I've had a lot of Braxton-Hicks contractions, about 10-20 a day, but they are pretty sporadic and painless. So we will for sure meet this little cutie in less than a week though I'm really I'm hoping that she comes on her own. My sister Jessica will be coming to Cheney on April 5th to help out for a little bit and then my Mom will be coming mid-April! My dad will be visiting for a day for Memory's baby blessing mid-April as well. I'm so excited! I'm excited for Memory to be born, and excited to see my family!

It's kind of surreal knowing that by Monday morning we're going to have a new baby!

Reading

If you look closely, you can see what book she's reading...haha
