Happy Belated Birthday, Kaitlin!

My sister Kaitlin's 18th birthday was on October 9th and I had intended to do a special post for her on her actual birthday, but I had been switching over to a new blog at the time and did not get to it. So, this is for you, Kait!

18 memories and reasons why I love Kaitlin!

1. When Kaitlin was really little, she would hum when she ate. At the time it was annoying and we used to bug her about it, but now that I think back on it, it was dang cute.

2. When my parents were driving us somewhere, if my mother didn't ask if we had our seat belts on, Kaitlin would. She would often even check to make sure we really did have them on...and if we didn't, she would tell on us (little stinker). Thanks for watching out for our safety, Kaitlin. :)

3. Kaitlin has, more times than I could ever count, been willing to do all kinds of little favors for us, like getting a drink for us, making lunch, getting something that we were perfectly capable of getting ourselves but were too lazy. She did it so much that we came to expect it of her. When she began telling us "no," we would often and wrongfully get annoyed with her. Now that I am older and *ahem* more mature, I am appreciative of her love for us and willingness to help us out.

4. I remember when mom got your hair cut really short for the first time and you came walking away from the hair stylist with a smile on your face. It was so short Aaron said "awwww, you're so handsome..." You just ignored him and kept on smiling anyway. :)

5. Kaitlin is so loyal to her friends and her family. She so easily befriends people. I admire her for it.

6. Every time I talk to Kaitlin on the phone, she tells me she loves and misses me and passes on her love to Eventide.

7. When Kaitlin was still sleeping in a crib, me, Kaitlin, and Jessica shared a room. It was time for bed and Kaitlin kept sticking her knee through the crib bars and it would get stuck. The first 2 or 3 times it was funny and me and Jessica would unstick her knee and go back to bed. But then she kept doing it. over and over and over! It got to the point where we couldn't even unstick it and we had to get our parents to help, and Kaitlin would just look at us and smile and as soon as mom or dad walked out the room, she'd stick her knee through the bars again.

8. Kaitlin is beautiful!

9. Kaitlin has good style! I sometimes wish I was her size so I could borrow her clothing.

10. No one riles Kaitlin up like Aaron does. Oh man. I admire Kaitlin even more just for withstanding that.

11. Kaitlin has a true appreciation of Twilight. :) Though I can't say I share her appreciation of the movie...ye-uck.

12. Kaitlin use to love wrapping "gifts." One year, for my dad's birthday, Kaitlin had to be around 5 or 6, and she wrapped up a single playing card in gift wrap and gave it to Dad.

13. I keep typing "Kaitling" instead of Kaitlin. Love you, Kaitling.

14. Kaitlin has incredible balance. I've never seen anyone bounce on a pogo stick as long as she has. The same goes for Hula hoops (she can get like 3 or 4 going).

15. Kaitlin is a kid at heart. I think if I asked her to play Barbies or "house" with me now, she'd give me a weird look, but would probably agree to play.

16. Kaitlin used to sneak things in to the grocery cart, like candy or koolaid, when we would go grocery shopping with our Mom and Mom never noticed. In fact...I think Kaitlin still does that.

17. When Kaitlin is excited or in a really great mood, she spreads her joy around like free candy. :)

18. Kaitlin is Kaitlin. I Miss and love you, Kait and I hope you had a FABULOUS 18th birthday!

Happy Birthday, Jessica!

Twenty funny and random memories, maybe a couple of inside jokes, and things I love about my sister Jessica:

1. She can make the ugliest or weirdest outfits look cool...and make you wish you would have thought of it first.

2. If I asked her to, she would willingly and with out complaint, wake up at 4 am to spend 2 hours curling my hair.

3. She has a true appreciation of Avatar the Last Airbender.

4. One time, a few years ago, it was a Saturday night and neither of us had plans and were home
alone. We decided we would make it a fancy night. We made homemade mac and cheese with fancy noodles and ate it out of fancy bowls. We drank apple juice out of wine glasses and settled down to watch Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 3, in which we both promptly fell asleep 20 minutes in to the movie.

5. At least once a week, Jessica is making cookies, or a blanket, or brownies, or etc. for a friend's birthday or sometimes for no reason other than just wanting to do something nice for a friend.

6. Sometimes she is so dang lazy and has all kinds of tricks to getting you to do things for her...like calling for you to come in to her room where she's laying on her bed and then once you get there, asking you to turn the light off for her. And she is quite persistent. Calling your name over and over and over until you get sick of it and go just to get her to stop yelling your name. And most of the time (not all...I assure you) it is hard to be annoyed or mad at her because you often wish you thought of the idea first.

7. I don't know if she remembers this, but one time we were in Idaho visiting our Aunt Lynn and Grandparents for Thanksgiving. We were at our aunt's house and our cousin's little kids were there and so, naturally, we started playing with them. At one point, we were outside and the little girls found branches that still had leaves and stuff on them and took upon themselves to start "tickling us" with the branches. Needless to say, it hurt. I remember looking at Jessica and sharing this look with her like "holy crap." But despite how unticklish it felt, Jessica just pretended to keep laughing and giggling and than distracted them with another activity. Jessica is great with kids and they love her! She would let them play on and hang off her like she was monkey bars if it made them happy. She's a good aunt and she'll be an even better mom.

8. She is AWESOME at DDR and Guitar Hero. She's a natural.

9. Jessica makes the most delicious chocolate chip cookies. I have the same recipe, but when I make them, they just don't compare.

10. She is an excellent car dancing companion. I have yet to find a finer partner in the fine art of dancing in a car.

11. "Honey, I'm home..." "I'm not playing house." "Honey, I'm home...." "I'm NOT playing house!" "Honey I'm home..." "I'M NOT PLAYING HOUSE!"

12. Jessica could chew on a whole pack of Bubble Tape and she would blow the hugest bubbles. She can also fit the top of a soda can in her mouth. And I believe her fist as well. The Swapp's have big mouths, but I do believe she has the biggest one,

13. which works out well because she is loud. almost to the point of being obnoxious, and sometimes beyond that point. ;)

14. Jessica is fiercely loyal to her family and friends.

15. She may not look it a lot of the time, but she is just as sensitive and emotional as the rest of us girls in the family and I love her for it.

16. Jessica is beautiful, beautiful, beautiful!

17. Jessica wears mismatched socks...always. To school ,to church, at my wedding reception with her bridesmaid dress. I think it is so cool.

18. She is the most creative person I have ever met.

19. "Gran Gran? I know Gran Gran."

20. Jessica is pretty darn cool. and awesome. both of those things.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JESSICA!!! I hope it is a fabulous day! You deserve an excellent one. I love you and I miss you a million times, Best Second Brother!

(P.S. I was originally planning on doing a post for my mom and my sister Kait, whose birthdays were earlier this month, but it happened to be around the time I was making my blog private and so I was unable to post them on their birthdays...so Mom and Kait, don't feel left out, yours are coming!)

5 month check up

Last week on Friday was Eventide 5 month check-up and shots. She is 16.3 lbs (82 percentile), her height is 26.5 inches (95 percentile), and her head circ. is 17 inches (87 percentile). Everything checked out okay :). She cried for maybe 30 seconds after her shots, then she stopped, then after about 30 seconds, she seemed to remember that she had gotten shots and started crying for another 30 seconds, and then she stopped. On the way out of the clinic, she was smiling and seemed as happy as could be! She's so strong and so healthy!

Eating solids!

We noticed that Eventide has been hungry more often and she seems to be really interested when we eat dinner, sometimes making sympathetic motions with her mouth. :) So we started her on rice cereal and she really liked it! and then a few days ago, we started feeding her sweet potatoes.

I think she's actually smiling at Mitchell in his picture. She sure loves her Daddy!
